Tite couldn't select Gabriel Jesus, lost to a severe injury

As Brazil prepares to face Uruguay and Paraguay for the South American World Cup Qualifiers, Coach Tite has announced his squad. However, Tite was unable to select Gabriel Jesus, who suffered an injury on February 13 and might be out for the season. “We won’t have everybody at our disposal at all times,” said the Brazilian coach. “In fact, his injury gives an opportunity to other players.”

But the fact is that Gabriel Jesus’ absence creates an uneasy situation for Brazil. Only time will tell how the new faces perform when facing a highly talented Uruguayan defense.

The game against Uruguay will take place in Montevideo on March 23. Five days later, the Seleção will host the Paraguayan team at São Paulo’s Arena Corinthians.

After 12 of 18 rounds, Brazil remains at the top of South America’s standings. While the best four teams at the end of the tournament will qualify directly for the 2018 Russia World Cup, the fifth-placed team will play the Oceania champion in a two-round playoff for the last spot.

Since Tite took over for Dunga in June, Brazil has won six straight games and climbed to the top of the standings. The streak included a dominant 3-0 win against Argentina. During that span, the Brazilian football squad made peace with the fans. Instead of the boring – and often embarrassing – games we’ve endured over the last few years, we’re finally starting to see some good football.

Tite is the living proof that winning, as a matter of fact, heals everything.
